Marian Richardson and Tony King from Nicara Skincare asked me to provide some constructive criticism of their current e-commerce site based on the Volusion platform. They took my comments on board and asked them to help build them a new, stylish, clean and effective site at www.nicaraskincare.com.
We decided to move to the Shopify platform and I mildly customised the standard template to fit in with Nicara’s aesthetic. I ensured the site was responsive so it can also be viewed (and shopped!) on smartphones and tablets. I set-up tax and shipping tables, gave advice on fulfilment, integrated the site with their PayPal account. Then, taking the basic text and images supplied, I produced a spreadsheet for the entire product range (over 150 SKUs) covering all the ecommerce essentials such as description, weight, cost, variants, image links, basic SEO as well as editing all the images supplied. I was then responsible for uploading all the products and ensuring they were placed in the correct categories.
In addition I added news, media and contact pages, home page image slider as well as writing all the boring yet necessary text to cover terms and conditions, delivery, returns, refunds and so forth. I provided domain hosting and IMAP email accounts. I also tested the site, payment and order processing before handing it over to Nicara Skincare for day-to-day operation. Finally I wrote a set of instructions covering the basic site operation for the new administrators.
